Alan Thomas "Opie" Corl, 38, of Rockwell passed away on September 13, 2018. His death was unexpected.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 23 at Organ Lutheran Church, with Pastor Carlin Ours officiating Burial will follow at the church cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, September 22 at Whitley's Funeral Home and he will lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to the funeral.

Alan was born August 27, 1980 in Cabarrus County, a son of Roy and Deborah Drye Corl. He was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1999. Alan was a landscaper. His love of landscape design and installation began with his working at Create-A-Scape Landscapers of Concord and went with him to several other area companies. Alan loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing. He also loved being "Uncle Opie" to his nephews.

His memory will be cherished by his family, which includes his parents; Roy and Deborah Corl Jr., his brothers; Daniel Corl (Anna) and Brent Corl (Lauren) and his 3 nephews, Carson, Sawyer and Jack, all of Rockwell, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
