She was born February 19, 1924, in Comanche County to Elbert Kilgore and Ora (Groves) Kilgore.
Inez married Walter Elmo Abbey on December 24, 1940.
Inez lived in the De Leon community all of her life. She pursued a career in nursing and worked as a nurse until her retirement. Inez enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She raised hundreds of baby calves, loved gardening, quilting and sewing. Inez was a wonderful cook and could make the best homemade rolls, cobblers and pies. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, and dear friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, David Abbey and wife, Cindy, of De Leon; grandchildren, Dayva McMullen and husband, Jacob, Cassie Deubler and husband, Alan, Latisha Bartley and husband, Kevin, Kayla Daniel and husband, Joe, Kelly Holecek and husband, Nathan, Kristi Niblack and husband, Shane, and Randy Abbey; great-grandchildren, Carter and Ella McMullen, Harrison and Kealan Deubler, Lakyla, Karli and Kreed Bartley, Ashley Fullerton, Amanda Reid and husband, Nathaniel, Jessica Heifers and husband, Matt, Christina Holecek, Kyle Holecek, Ericka Alman, Patricia Cook and husband, John, Sam Blair, Brandi Blair, Haley Wollard and husband, Cori, and Dean, Steven, Westin and Jeffrey Abbey; thirteen great-great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie Kilgore; son-in-law, Richard Smith; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Abbey; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Abbey; parents, Elbert and Ora Kilgore; son, Billy Abbey; daughter, Patricia Smith; great-granddaughter, Meagan Dominquez; great-grandsons, Logan Fullerton and Bradley Bottoms; brothers, Willard, Wayne, Vernon, Delma Lee and Earl Kilgore; and sister, Una Fern "Bill" Pollock.
