A graveside funeral service for Helen Mozell "Mozie" Shumate, age 79, of Brookesmith, will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Cox Cemetery in McCullough County. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Mrs. Shumate passed away Sunday in Brownwood.
Mozie was born on July 4, 1939 to Frank Hill and Myrtle Gandy Hill. She married Jesse Shumate in Brownwood, Texas on September 17, 1955.
Survivors include her children Gwenda Nell Brush, Jackie Kay Hunt and husband George, Roy Ky Shumate and wife Tonia; sisters Lavern Burns and husband PT, Frankie Cloud, brother Burt Hill and wife Linda; eleven grandchildren James Kevin Shumate and wife Amanda, Shana Lynn Gilbreath, Brandon Dee Gilbreath, Kadie Danielle Stovall, Tessa Jo Newton, Maggie Lee Newton, Jessi Lynn Newton, Chaylie Marie Rios and husband D.J., Kylynn Cherie Shumate, Tana Kay Smith, Cagan Ryan Smith and Meghan and 10 great grandchildren.
Mozie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jesse Shumate; daughters Lynda Gail Stephens and Jana Beth Shumate; brother Kenneth Hill and great grandson McCall Shumate.
