Bonnie was born in McDowell County on July 23, 1934 to the late Arthur “Ott” Brown and Ola McFalls Brown.
She worked for more than 20 years at Ethan Allen and later retired from Columbia Carolina following over 10 years of service with them. Bonnie had a big heart and showed it in the way she treated not only her own family but all her friends and neighbors. She was generous and kind to all but she had a particular soft spot for her grandchildren who knew that she could always be counted on when needed. Bonnie had many interests including Bingo, yard sales and her birds.
Her husband, Carroll Levi Lawson, and a sister, Edith Brown Smith, preceded her in death.
Surviving Bonnie are her three children, Ricky Lawson of Old Fort, Robin Fellows of Marion, and Rodney Lawson and wife Emily of Old Fort; her brother, Frank Brown, and sister, Jean Allison Roth, both of Old Fort; nine grandchildren, Nikki Lawson-Brinkley and husband Jeff, Kelli Lawson Banner and husband Nason, Jeremy Fellows, Kayla Lawson Jenkins and late husband Jacob, Samantha Lawson Carswell and husband Bo, Cody Lawson, and Shaun, Levi, and Chelsea Stockton; nine great-grandchildren; and her special friend and neighbor, Terry “Animal” Roth.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Service in Old Fort with Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment service for family will follow at Davistown Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
