Charlie Adams, Blasting Ice Near Valley, Held the Charge Too Long.

FIVE STICKS IN BLAST

Charlie Adams, 41, rail bridge carpenter, 2040 North Sixty-fifth avenue, was instantly killed when a charge of five sticks of dynamite exploded in his hand while he was blasting ice in the Platte river near Valley, Neb., Tuesday morning.

According to reports reaching Valley, Adams was standing on the Union Pacific bridge from where the dynamite charges had been tossed into the river. A fuse had been lighted to five sticks. Adams held it too long before hurling it out onto the ice. Fellow workmen saw his body blown to pieces.
