FREDERICK EUGENE WALKER, 84, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at the Guthrie Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda, Pennsylvania. Gene was born Sept. 27, 1933 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Frederick R. “George” Walker and Alice Marion Strong Walker. He graduated from the Wyalusing High School, a member of the class of 1951. Gene married the former Janice Fisk, of Wilmot, on Jan, 4, 1963. After graduation he worked at Arey’s Lumber for 20 years, and then went to P&G from where he retired in 1992. Gene loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid softball pitcher, having at the age of 60 led his son Jim’s softball team to the national modified softball tournament in Long Island. He was a Phillies Phanatic, having attended many many games over the years. Gene also enjoyed gardening, taking care of the birds, bowling, and teaching kids to bowl. He was a past president of the Pennsylvania Jr. Bowling Association. Gene was also a former Jr. High basketball coach at Wyalusing High School.

Surviving are his spouse, Janice of the Wyalusing Personal Care Home; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Walker Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael (Cathi) Walker of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, Randy (Jenny) Walker of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, Jim (Missy) Walker of Liberty, Pennsylvania, Tom (Bonnie) Walker of Raymond, Washington, and Debbie (Tim) Dunfee of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; brother, David and Lois Walker of the Villages, Florida; grandchildren, Kelsey, Cole, Nicole, Michael, Austin, Caleb, Alison, Savannah, Gracelyn, Justin, Brittany, JJ, Riley, Olivia, Samantha, Melanie,Morgan, Logan, Caitlyn, and Kyle; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Lawrence Thomas, his former pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Wyalusing Cemetery, in Wyalusing. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradford County Relay for Life, c/o Amy Huffman-PS Bank, P.O.
