William Wagner, a pioneer resident of the Capital City and an employee at the Central Grade School for many years, died at 8:45 o'clock last evening at the home of his son, Christ Wagner, who lives on the St. Louis Road. Death followed an illness of many months resulting from a complication of diseases.

Mr. Wagner, who was 76 years of age of age, had been in poor health for many years. His condition, however, did not become serious until last November when he became confined to his home. From that date, he grew steadily worse until the end of last night.

He was born in Cole County and spent practically his entire life in that section of the state. In 1872 he was married to Miss Margaret Fischer, who died exactly 31 years ago today. Mr. Wagner was well known in this community and in the county, where he had hundreds of friends who will deeply mourn his passing. He was a useful and progressive citizen and his death is a distinct loss to Jefferson City.

Mr. Wagner is survived by five children, two sons, and three daughters. They are Christ and Conrad Wagner and Mrs. Emil Schneider, Mrs. Fred Miller and Mrs. Nelse Addison, all of Jefferson City. Eleven grandchildren also mourn his death.

Definite funeral arrangements had not been made in the late hour last night. Services will probably be held either Friday or Saturday.
