Edmund Glen Sheleny, 88, of Vancouver, beloved husband of Betty (Langdale) Sheleny, passed away Sept. 6, 2018. Ed was born April 30, 1930, in North Dakota to the late Frank and Margaret (Gereszek) Sheleny. He was the 10th of 12 children. He enjoyed a childhood of growing up on a farm with his large family.
Ed joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War in 1948 and 1949. He was a Radio Operator and was awarded a medal during his service.
Ed and Betty owned the Rose Lodge Store in Rose Lodge, Ore., in the mid-70's to early 80's. Ed was also a volunteer fireman in Rose Lodge during that same time. His interests included baseball, woodworking, roller skating and classic country music.
His survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty; son, Casey Sheleny; daughter, Fawn (Russell) Solis; grandchildren, Will (Eric Bendix) Solis, Brandie (Robert) DiFalco, Katie (Brandon) Wagner, Julie (Jerry Nichols) Sheleny; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey Hunter, Brandon Wagner, Travis Wagner, Lily Sheleny, Zoey Nichols and Mixy Nichols.
Ed was a tremendous husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, everyone who knew him, loved him.
A service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at Willamette National Cemetery. A reception will follow.
