Miss Lena Holmes, the seventeen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Holmes, died early Monday morning of diphtheria, and the remains were interred in Mountain Home cemetery in the stillness of the night Monday. Miss Holmes came here from Kalamazoo the 16th and worked one night in the paper mill, when she was taken ill. The case was at once thoroughly quarantined and our physicians do not apprehend any more cases. In fact they are quite confident there will be none, as the time has already passed when new cases would be reported had the disease spread in the least. There is no necessity for the least particle of alarm, as the greatest possible care has been taken to prevent the spread of the disease. Miss Holmes was an amiable young lady and her untimely death caused great sorrow among her many friends. Her parents have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction.
