Samuel, the son of Thomas Rand and Sarah Eddenden, died in Jan or Feb 1748[/9?], and Married in Boston 20 Jan 1703/4 Sarah PAIN, b. c. 1683, living in 1748, possibly the daughter of William Pain and Sarah Sanford. Samuel was a tailor, and a captain of a Foot Company under Colonel Wendell in 1742. Samuel was called of Boston in his will, dated 9 Jan 1748[/9?], naming wife Sarah and two of his sons as executors; it was proved the following month, on 21 Feb 1748[/9?]. Since the person who transcribed the will into the Boston probate books did not use the double dating [e.g. 1748/9], there is some uncertainty as to the dates intended in this will. Samuel and Sarah had eleven children born from 1704 to 1727. Sarah has an extant gravestone in this cemetery, but the vital information is buried underground.
