Jack Truman Fuqua, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends who loved him dearly.

Mr. Fuqua was born January 6, 1945, in Floydada to Floyd and Gladys Mildred (Dunn) Fuqua, he was the last of three children born to this union. Jack received his education in Floydada, graduating from Floydada High School in 1963. He married the late Carolyn Sellers-Fuqua in 1972. They loved to travel together until her untimely death. No children were born to this union but Jack later adopted Richard Cisneros - Fuqua.

Jack was employed by Pioneer Hi-bred International were he was recognized for his 20 years of service. Jack then began to pursue his passion and dream of becoming a Funeral Director. He received his Associate Degree in Science from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas in 1989. He then attended the Dallas Institute Of Funeral Service School and was awarded a Scholastic Achievement Award and Certification of Attendance. He was also the First Vice President of Psi Gamma class. He received his Funeral Director and Embalmer License in 1991. He then opened The Abilene Funeral Home Inc. along with his son in 1998. Jack received numerous awards and was recognized for his dedication in the Funeral Service Industry. Jack was passionate about this field and treated everyone with dignity and respect. He took the utmost pride in his work and will be greatly missed in the industry as well as by the many families he served.

Mr. Fuqua was preceded in death by both parents, a brother Floyd Elwin Fuqua and sister Bonnie Phillips and his longtime companion Duffy.

Survivors include his devoted son ... and his wife ... of Abilene, niece ... of Cairo, Egypt, niece ... of Glenrose, nephew ... of Round Rock, nephew ... Berlin, Germany, ... of Cairo, Egypt, and cousin ... of Floydada, and numerous Jones cousins in Caprock, Tx. He also leaves his pet companions Mia and Angel.

A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Abilene Funeral Home Inc. in the "Chapel of Hope" from 6:00 P.M
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday September 12 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada.
