Joe was born on June 10, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a graduate of Bushwick and Academy of Aeronautics. Joe climbed his way up the Corporate Ladder of United Airlines and USAIR in Information Technology Management. He also retired as a Corporate Officer Veteran of the US Navy, Naval Air Wing, Brunswick Naval Air Station, ME.
Joe loved his family and friends and enjoyed being with them very much. He enjoyed living in Colorado, Illinois, California, Georgia and Florida. Joe also loved to travel and was very fortunate to have seen most of the world. His favorite place abroad was Italy and he was able to secure dual citizenship for his family. His favorite way to travel was by cruise ships. He loved the game of golf, going on walks, and a cocktail on his dock watching the sunsets.
Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Patricia Abruzzo; daughter, Lori Karian and her husband, Stephan; son, Mike Abruzzo; grandchildren, Ethan Joseph Karian and Ava Rose Karian. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Abruzzo, III; and his parents, Rita and Joseph Abruzzo.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church, 259 Miramar Beach Dr., Miramar Beach, FL 32550, on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10 A.M. followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon.
The family requests in lieu of flowers and that memorial gifts be designated to Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic. Gifts can be made at www.mayoclinic.org/developement
