Chester Alexander Hunt Sr.

Chester Alexander Hunt Sr., 85, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He was a native of Jackson, Miss., and a longtime resident of Fairhope.

Hunt was well known as the historian of the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa, and had worked for the Point Clear landmark for more than 60 years after starting his career as a waiter there in 1941.

Survivors include five children, Jan Marie Coleman of Mobile, Julius Hunt of Moss Point, Miss., Chester A. Hunt Jr. of Fairhope, Tyrone Hunt of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kerry Hunt of Mobile; a brother, Cecil Hunt; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lebanon Chapel AME Church with the Revs. James Green and Walter Sumlin officiating. Burial will be in Twin Beach Cemetery in Fairhope.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
