Ruth Maxine Yeager, 85, longtime Seminole resident, passed away, Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Maxine was born April 13, 1933 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Ira Marion Davis and Florence (Mills) Davis.
Maxine worked for many years at the Seminole County Court Clerk’s office in Wewoka, the Wewoka Head Start and also taught school at Wewoka Public Schools for 20 years as a language arts and reading specialist in the elementary and junior high.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole, Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association and the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association. Maxine loved horses and mules and especially “Samson” her last mule that she had. She rode for pleasure in later years on wagon trains and packing trips into the Grand Canyon, the Grand Teton Mountains and in New Mexico and she had logged over 17,000 miles riding. In her younger years, she won numerous awards in trail riding and endurance events for over 20 years.
Maxine married Archie Yeager on June 30, 1951 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2017.
Maxine is survived by her two daughters; Maureen Richardson and her husband Vic Richardson and Jan Davidson and her husband Bill Davidson, both of Seminole, Oklahoma, her sister, Ann Abel of Weiner, Arkansas, three grandchildren Zac Richardson, Ashley Noey and Kaylie Davidson, seven great grandchildren; Noah, Elijah, and Lydia Reece, Emma and Ethan Noey and Braxton and Chilo Stacy; she is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ratis and Dorothy Yeager of Greenbriar, Arkansas and sister-in-law, Margaret Noah of Sterling, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Seminole Church of Christ at 12040 Highway 99 North, in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Kevin Hardeman and Arpoika Daniels officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
Casket bearers will be; John Rains, Kenny Brewer, Zac Richardson, Elijah Reece, Noah Reece and Tom Morton. Honorary bearers will be Mike Yeager, Bill Davidson and Vic Richardson.
The family is requesting donations in Maxine’s memory be made to Tipton Children’s Home, Seminole Humane Society or the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
