He married Marty Thacker on May 31, 1980, at Red Hills State Park.
Don was the proud father of two beautiful girls, Erin Yost, of Bridgeport, and her fiancé, Nathan Franklin, of Mt. Vernon, and Courtney Yost, of Charleston. He was never boastful about his pride, but you were aware of it when he spoke of them.
Other survivors include two brothers, Tom Yost and his wife, Carol, of Normal, and Dave Yost, of Watson; three sisters, Sharon and Dan Ulhir, of Downs, Elaine Yost, of Downs, and Janice and Robert Weidner, of Clay City; mother-in-law, Margaret Thacker, of Chauncey; four brothers-in-law, Russ and Donna Thacker, of Scottsbluff, Neb., Reid and Shannon Thacker, of Chauncey, Mac and Julie Thacker, of Chauncey, and Todd and Amy Thacker, of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister-in-law, Lynette and Mark Frye, of Chauncey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lyman Berry, and his father-in-law, Melvin Thacker.
Don was the one anyone could come to with a problem, whether it be personal or mechanical. He would, in his own time, analyze every detail of the situation and come up with a solution or advice. Don was gifted with many talents as a carpenter, mechanic, oilrig driller and power plant operator, but most of all, his sense of humor. He once said he always wanted to be a good person and someone who everybody liked. The amount of friends and family that has shown support to him these last few months has been a testament of his accomplishment to the above. Don touched many people's lives and we all have fond memories of him to remember.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Waggoner Cemetery in Chauncey.
Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
