Jack Robert Bell, 89, passed away at his home on August 31, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.
Jack was born in Exeter, CA to Hugh and Maud Bell and was the youngest of three siblings. He graduated from Porterville High School in 1948 and began studying at his uncle's barber college. From 1950-1952 he fought in the Korean War. In 1953, he graduated from barber college.
Jack moved to Bakersfield in 1960, and met his wife, Gayle, in 1962. They were married in 1965 and remained happily married for 53 years. They were blessed with two children, Jackie and Vicky.
Jack ran a successful hairstyling business from 1961 to November 2018, first being located on Niles Street then moving to H Street. He was also a long-term parishioner at St. Francis.
Jack is survived by his wife and children, sister Barbara, niece Rosemary and nephew Rick. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Arthur and, his nephew Jack.
A memorial mass is scheduled for Friday September 7th, 9 a.m., St. Francis Church with a rosary a half-hour before.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
