Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in First Baptist Church of Dubach for Carrie Ophelia Larance Goodwin, 84, who died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at her residence.

The Rev. George Bannister, pastor of First Baptist Church of Scott, will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Unionville Cemetery in Unionville.

Ophelia was the daughter of the late James Larance and the former Carrie Flowers of Lincoln Parish. She spent most of her life doing what she loved best, caring for children. She was selected as "Mother of the Year" by the Daily Advertiser, May 14, 1989. While raising

10 children of her own, she worked in the nursery at Westside Baptist Church for 26 years and East Bayou Baptist Church for 10 years, where she was known lovingly by all as "Grandma."

Survivors include five daughters, Eva G. Burch and her husband, Paul, of DeRidder, Sherry G. Comeaux and her husband, Jimmy, Sue G. Seaux and her husband, John, Linda G. Gannard and Ann Goodwin, all of Lafayette; three sons, Aubrey Goodwin and his wife, Audrey, of Lafayette, Lavelle Goodwin and his wife, Violet, of Branch, and Roy Goodwin Sr. and his wife, Cindy, of Rayne; five sisters, Irene L. Colvin, of Monroe, Nettie L Hodge, of Bernice, Molly Ruth L. Morrow, Mary L. Pilgreen, and Lula L. Ammonet, of Pascagoula, Miss.; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Henry Lester Goodwin; two sons, Jimmy Lester and Larance "Ed" Goodwin; and three brothers, Clinton, Delton and Buddy Larance.

Pallbearers will be three of her daughters, Sherry G. Comeaux, Carolyn Sue G. Seaux and Linda G. Gannard; and her three sons, Lavelle, Aubrey and Roy Goodwin Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eva G. Burch, Jimmy Comeaux, John Seaux and Ann Goodwin.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. John Mickey and his nurse, Lisa; Shelley, Lou and Joyce, of the CHF Clinic at Lafayette General Medical Center; and Hospice of Acadiana.

Visitation will be observed from 10 AM until 9 PM today at the Delhomme Funeral Home in Scott, and will continue from 10 AM until time of services Monday at First Baptist Church of Dubach.
