Louis “Bill” Sarcoxie

Bill Sarcoxie, 95, of Ramona, died Sunday in Ramona.
Louis, or Bill as he was known by all, was born the son of Roy and Neva Sarcoxie on April 28, 1923. He was raised in the Bartlesville area. At age 20, Bill joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the 10th Mountain Infantry in Italy. He cared for the many mules that the infantry used in their operations. Once home he learned the auto body repair trade and continued in this line of work until he retired.

At the age of 30 Bill accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. At the time he continuously heard his neighbor a preacher praying - one night while he heard the preacher praying, the Lord came to Bill and laid on his heart to ask forgiveness for his sins. Bill didn’t receive a calling to the ministry but to teach the bible which he did until the very end. Bill faithfully preached in many local churches and baptized many new believers in the various creeks in this area including his current pastor Brother James Haynes.

Bill was united in marriage with Norma Jean on May 28, 1978. They enjoyed doing many things together including many memorable trips to fish and attend tent revivals where they witnessed God’s hand in the many miracles they witnessed over the years. While fishing on the coast Bill always made sure to wear his shoes while fishing in surf because he didn’t like the feel of the crabs walking over his bare feet. Even though Norma Jean enjoyed fishing, baiting the hooks was Bill’s job. In recent years Bill was faithful to serve and his ministry was helping local churches.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Norma Jean of the home; three grandchildren, Lance Black, Reuben Sarcoxie and Caleb Sarcoxie; and a special nephew who helped care for Bill in his final months, Brian Sarcoxie and his wife Nancy. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Billy and Doyle Sarcoxie, daughter Elaine Black, one brother Raymond Sarcoxie and sister Lucille Gardner.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12-8, Friday 10-8 and Saturday 9-12 at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.

Services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, at the Fountain of Life Tabernacle in Dewey, with Pastor James Haynes officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
