Actor, Writer, Activist. He was best known to television viewers as 'Philip 'Charlie' Brent Jr.' on the popular soap opera "All My Children" from 1992 to 1995. Born Christopher Kennedy Lawford and a member of the prominent Kennedy family and son of actor Peter Lawford, he attended Tufts and Georgetown Universities, and went to Boston College Law School, graduating in 1983. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a drug problem put him in a clinic for a time, but he was able to straighten out his life and continue with his education. He turned to acting in the late 1980s and had his first role in the 1988 film "The Suicide Club". He went on to appear in such films as "Thirteen Days" (2000), "Exit Wounds" (2001), "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" (2003), and "The World's Fastest Indian" (2005). Besides "All My Children", he also appeared in numerous television series such as "Midnight Caller," "Silk Stalkings," "General Hospital," and "Frasier". In 2005, he wrote his memoir "Symptoms of Withdrawal: A Memoir of Snapshots and Redemption" and four years later, put together "Moments of Clarity: Voices from the Front Lines of Addiction and Recovery". The latter work was a collection of essays from individuals who were in the public spotlight that struggled with addiction to alcohol and drugs. While living in Boston, he set up a clinic to treat opiate dependency. He has also served as a lecturer in psychiatry for Harvard Medical School. He was involved in various political and social causes during his life.
