"Nanny" was born on August 16, 1923, to Charlie and Daisy Henderson of Bellevue, IL. After receiving the Holy Ghost at Apostolic Pentecostal Church in St. Louis, MO pastored by Rev. Harry Branding in 1939, she began a new life of consecration to God. On July 30, 1944, she married former Missouri District Superintendent, Rev. Winfred Black, loving and ministering by his side as pastor's wife in both Kansas City, MO (First United Pentecostal Church) and St. Louis, MO (Apostolic Pentecostal Church) until his death in 1978. She then served her son, Terry, as he pastored in Vancouver, B.C. Canada and Memphis, TN for the remaining years of her life.
She loved walking with the Lord, meditating on her Bible, encouraging ministers, singing hymns and oldies, reading westerns and Christian fiction, cleaning the house, eating sweets, laughing, giving, and loving people.
Sis. Black is preceded in death by her parents (Charlie Henderson and Daisy McConnell), sister (June Reeves), brother-in-law (Bill Reeves), husband ( Rev. Winfred Black), and grandson (Michael Anderson). She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Strlek (Francek); son, Terry Black (Cheryl); grandchildren: Christy Anderson, Becky Delle (Tony), Chrystal Milligan (Tim), Natalie Huckaby (Jason), Brandon Black; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
