The funeral of James H. Crowley Jr.. of 1208 Vine St., Scranton will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family from Cusick Funeral Home, 217 Jefferson Ave., Scranton. Interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery; Moscow, Friends may call Friday 7 to 9. Crowley 41, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday afternoon in Scranton State General Hospital. He gained fame in 1970 when he held the world record for marathon piano playing. He set the piano endurance of 44 days from Oct. 11 through Nov. 24 at Nay Aug Park In Scranton which earned him listing in in the Guinness Book of World Records. A gifted James Crowley Jr. musician, he entertained In Lackawanna and Luzerne counties as well throughout, the county. In 1971, a Scranton-produced record album, "Jim Crowley," was released on his own Vine Street Records label. Born in New York City, he was a son of James H. and Helen Cleary Crowley. His father Is one of the famed "Four Horsemen" of Notre Dame. A graduate of South Catholic High School, Scranton, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton. Surviving in addition to his parents are daughters, Maurie and Kristin, and sons, James H. Ill, Scranton.
