Mrs. Linda James “Sponge” Cook, age 72, of Jackson, GA, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. She was born on Sunday, November 25, 1945 in Butts County, Georgia to the late Wallace Jackson James and the late Lila Strawn James. Linda was a member of Second Baptist Church. She loves Soap Operas, drinking Pepsi and cooking for her family.

Linda is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Gary Price of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Mandy Walker, and Robert and Vicki Walker all of Jackson; grandchildren and their spouses, Nicholas and August Power, Heather and Chris Burns, Sabrina Pollard, Leah Price, Tyler Walker, Brady Walker, Tabitha and Chris Popphan, Whitney Walker, Braelyn Ellis, Gage Ellis, and Ashlynn Walker; 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers and a sister-in-law, Jackie James, and Victor and Betty James; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister.

A funeral service for Mrs. Linda James “Sponge” Cook will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Hosford and Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in Pepperton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at Linda’s home, 601 Viewpoint Road, Jackson, GA 30233.
