John M. Ziemacki of Jamesport died in an automobile accident Nov. 10. He was 90.

He was born in Jamesport May 4, 1922, to Mitchell and Victoria (Zaweski) Ziemacki.

Mr. Ziemacki worked as a builder, farmer, tax assessor, building inspector and highway superintendent and was an original member of the Jamesport Fire Department. Family members said he enjoyed building birdhouses and gardening.

Predeceased by his brother, Felix, and his sisters Helen Raynor and Victoria Martin, Mr. Ziemacki is survived by his wife, Caroline; his sons, Donald, of Alexandria, Va., and Allen, of Jamesport; his daughter, Sandra Ballard of Topsham, Maine; his sisters Stella Bourgeois of Florida, Marian Ashook of Tennessee and Jeanette Kukla of Aquebogue; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visiting hours will be held at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead on Friday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, with interment at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief.
