"Veteran Will Be Buried at Gilroy

"An announcement has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Crews of Gilroy that the body of their son, Charles C. Crews, who died of wounds received in France during the world war, will arrive in Brooklyn on Jan. 14, and will be shipped at once to Gilroy for burial. It is expected that services for the dead hero will be held about Jan. 20.

"Crews, who was well known in San Jose, was mortally wounded while repairing telephone wires during heavy enemy fire on the battlefields near Crezaney, France, on July 15, 1918. He died in a hospital a few days later. Distinguished service citations have been registered to his name by the third division, to which he was attached, for his deed.

"San Jose lodge No. 8, Order of Eagles, of which Crews was a member, will be in charge of the funeral to be held at Gilroy. Crews was also a member of Brotherhood union, F.S., No,. 107, of this city."
