Richard was born in Bentonville Arkansas, he moved to Lodi in 1964, where he played little league baseball and then studied ROTC in high school. In 1971 he was baptized in the Church of Christ. He served in the US Army in 1974, then started working for Lodi Iron works in 1980 which he retired from.
His love of watching the Phillies play baseball fueled his own run at the bases while an adult. Watching the Dolphins play football and playing in a fantasy football league with his family filled the time between seasons- he was even number one in the league. He loved listening to music and spending time with his family. He had such a great sense of humor and was the jokester of the family. He was finally a grandpa and she was the light of his eye.
Richard is proceeded in death by his brother Mikel Vigil. He is survived by his mother Velma, his wife Kathy, his children Laura, Steven(Hali), his granddaughter Ellie, siblings Mary (Bob), Raymond, Lance, his nieces Maria and Melissa, nephews Joey, Bobby, Alex and Ed, as well as many cousins.
Graveside service s will be held Tuesday September 4th at 11am at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and E Harney Ln., Lodi CA.
A potluck reception will follow at American Legion Hall on Stockton St.
