Rev. Everett Lea Rumley, Jr., age 69, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at his home after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Everett Lea Rumley, Sr. and the late Iona Lynette Gosnell Rumley and was married for over 50 years to Martha Sue Wrenn Rumley, who survives. Everett served in the U.S. Air Force for 15 years and rose to the rank of Captian. He was the former fleet maintenance manager in the Transportation Division of Burlington Industries and later retired in 2006 as the V.P. of Operations for Melton Industrial Truck Service. He also worked part time with the Alamance Eye Center. Rev. Rumley was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and for 35 years was a Sunday School teacher at Holly Hill and Brookwood Baptist Church. He attended Seminary at Duke University and later at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC and served as a marriage counselor out of his home. Rev. Rumley is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters; a son; nine grandchildren; a sister; and two brothers. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Holly Hill Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Rumley, Rev. Mark White, Dr. Tim Taylor and Rev. Dale Taylor. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
