Funeral services for Mrs. Cornelia Nixon Alexander, who died early Tuesday morning at her home in Topsail after a long illness, were held at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the Topsail Methodist church, with the Rev. C. C. Myers, assisted by the Rev. J. S. Crowley, officiating.
She was born July 25, 1849, in Pender county, the daughter of Edward and Mary St. George. Mrs. Alexander was the widow of the late Dr. L. L. Alexander and was a life-long member of the Topsail Presbyterian church, being its oldest member. She was educated at Miss Nash's school at Hillsboro, and spent most of her life at Topsail.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. A. W. Sidbury and Mrs. James S. King, of Wilmington, Mrs. T. E. Hayes of Rocky Point, and Mrs. Lula Allen of Topsail, and a son, Walter McR. Alexander of Topsail; also surviving her are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: Dr. Roderick H. King, A. W. Sidbury, William H. King, A. W. Sidbury, Jr., James S. King and T. E. Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers were: J. C. Nixon, J. A. Nixon, Dr. Bryant, J. W. Sidbury, J. E. Batson, C. F. King, Ravenswood Sidbury, E. V. King, R. A. Nixon, Charles Howard, Leon Nixon, E. C. King, Dr. R. J. Williams and Nixon Sidbury.
