Originally buried - Spring Street Presbyterian Church Burial Vaults in Manhattan.
The human remains and artifacts were sent to Syracuse University where they were studied by anthropologists from 2007 until 2014, when they were reinterred at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
Research into the Abel surname uncovered a tentative connection between Murden and Abel. In 1833, the mortuary notice for George Cook Abel mentioned the place of departure for the funeral as 27 Renwick Street, the house of his father-in-law, Joseph R. Murden. When Murden’s daughter Ellen S. married George C. Abel in 1826, Benjamin would have been about five years old. Although no direct connection could be established, it seems probable that Benjamin was George’s son from a previous marriage.
