Joanne H. "Jodi" Richmond, 87, Franklin, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018.
She was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Trimble County, KY, to the late Hobart H. and Amy G. (Chandler) Horton.She married William W. "Bill" Richmond on Jan. 9, 1949 and lived in the Franklin area since 1967.
Jodi spent many years serving her community and sharing her Spirit as a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin. She chose to be a beautician for a few years after graduating from cosmetology school. Then she gave herself completely to her passion of creating a loving home for Bill and her four sons. She was a self-taught master seamstress, creating beautiful clothes, quilts, and cross-stitch gifts (as well as keeping her sons “patched up”). She loved to garden and she was adept at conjuring delicious meals.
Jodi was, and remains, a role model and example of how one can fully share a loving Presence. She was always so giving of her time and talents in ways that transcend her time here, leaving a legacy of love and gratitude in the hearts and memories of many.
Jodi is survived by four sons; Barry, Rick (wife Kelly), Rob, and Kelly (wife Ann); 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Charlie (wife Susie) Horton.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Bill Richmond, a daughter, Patty Ann; sister Norma Ray; sister Audrey H. (Cannon); brother Douglas W.; sister Nellie C (Wallace); brother, Benjamin F.; sister Dorothy J. (Poynter).
The Rev. Evie Stuard will conduct a Celebration of Life service at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30 at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North), Franklin, IN 46131. Receiving of Friends will be from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A second Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 N Gate Rd, Madison, IN 47250. Receiving of Friends will be from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Both services and viewings are open to the public.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Women's Fellowship at Tabernacle Christian Church, 198 N. Water St, Franklin, IN 46131.
