HANCHARIK – Andrew G. “Hunchy,” 79, Johnstown, native of Windber, passed away Oct. 3, 2015, at Windber Hospice. Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Windber, son of Steven and Mary (Yuscanitch) Hancharik. Preceded in death by parents; infant sister, Agnes; brother, Stephen Hancharik; and sister, Mary Jane Wozny. Survived by wife, Janice (Rummell) Hancharik; and daughters, Mary Ann, wife of Charley Moore, Johnstown; Dara, wife of Robert Vargo, Windber; and Kristie Havyer and Arron Sorochman, Windber. Also survived by six grandchildren; sisters, Betty Spaid, Portage; and Irene Di Pangrazio, Cleveland, Ohio; and very good friends, Kevin, Max, Dan and Grace. A 1955 graduate of Windber High School, where Andrew was a star football player and after receiving a football scholarship went on to play collegian football. A U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War era. Retired employee of Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, and an employee of Country Manor Living, Jerome. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where the funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Deacon Thomas M. Papinchak, officiating.
