Shirley June Sandlin Roderick, 84, of Pecan Gap, Texas passed away on August 26, 2018 at her home.
She was born to the late Florence and J. W. Sandlin on May 25, 1934 near Pecan Gap. She graduated from Pecan Gap High School and Baylor Science of Nursing. Retired from E-Systems, now L3, in Greenville.
A Sunday school teacher and member of the First Baptist Church of Pecan Gap since 1948, an endowed member and past matron of Commerce Chapter 208 Order of Eastern Star.
The greatest gift June possessed was her love and concern for others. All who knew her can attest to her generosity and loyalty to her church and community. Pecan Gap was the "hub of her universe".
June was the baby of ten siblings and was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Orman Roderick; her parents; five sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Erwin and son-in-law, Weldon Erwin of Commerce; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
The family request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Pecan Gap or the American Cancer Society.
Delta Funeral Home, Cooper, Texas is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Pecan Gap. Burial will follow in the Pecan Gap Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Randy Conley, Mark Conley, James Reel, Charles Reel, Carl Reel, Ricky Beeler, Jody Beeler and Ed Pickard.
