Ethlyn Claudia Michalsky, 78, of Baytown was born September 11, 1939, in La Grange, TX and passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018. Ethlyn was an avid Astros and Cowboys fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most of all, her grandchildren. She loved going gambling and playing the slot machines with her friends. She owned the Sandwich Shoppe and retired from Luby’s. She was loved by her six grandchildren but was known as Meme to all. Her life revolved around being active in their lives, especially watching sporting events. Another love of hers was classic country music, but her favorite was when she was able to listen and dance to her own grandson’s band.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Charlie and Albina Vasek; brothers, Bennie Vasek, Bill Vasek, and Lawrence Vasek; and sisters, Tony Boatright, Betty Gau, and Albina Marquart.

She is survived by her sister, Lillie Wied; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Gary Englert, Brenda Michalsky, and Sharon and Craig Russell; son, Jerry Michalsky; and grandchildren, Taylor Englert, Haley and Scott Mason, Mason Michalsky, Courtney Russell, Hunter Michalsky, and Jaxon Michalsky.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Navarre Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Dan Foley officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Englert, Craig Russell, Taylor Englert, Hunter Michalsky, Jaxon Michalsky, and Scott Mason.

Many thanks to her caregivers, Heather LaFoy, Rollingbrook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and Traditions Hospice. We are eternally grateful for the time and care you provided our mom and Meme.
