Judy Rae Sorenson, 62, of Williston, North Dakota, formerly of Fortuna, North Dakota passed away Friday evening, August 24, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Medical Center.

Judy Rae Sorenson was born May 2nd, 1956 in Williston, ND to Arthur and Marie Sorenson. Judy lost her courageous battle to cancer on Friday August 24th, 2018. Judy was raised and active on the family farm in Fortuna, ND. She graduated from Grenora Public School in 1974. Judy’s love of sports began early, with her playing basketball and softball in high school.

Judy worked in the medical field in Williston and Bismarck until she went back to continue her education at age 30, and ultimately earning her degree as a legal secretary.

Judy returned back to Williston in 1987 and began her career at Kotana Communications that lasted close to 30 years. She ended her working career at Century Apartments.

Judy’s passions included scrapbooking, attending scrapbooking retreats, card making, casinos, flowers and playing cards. Judy enjoyed collecting teddy bears and angels.

She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews participate in sports as well as community events such as 4H animal shows.

Her greatest passion was giving her time and energy to family, as well as her many friends.

Judy is survived by her mom Marie of Crosby, ND; sisters Joyce (Mike) Leonard of Ocala, FL, Sandra (Perry) Herland of Olympia, WA, Sharon (Perry) Pulvermacher of Crosby, ND; brothers Butch (Lila) Sorenson of Fortuna, ND, LeRoy (Colleen) Sorenson of Plentywood, MT, Loren (Lorilee) Sorenson of Grenora, ND; nephews and nieces Tom (Megan) Leonard, Stacy Sorenson, Stephanie (Greig) Donnelly, Ryan (Lindsey) Sorenson, Robert (Karen) Sorenson, Travis Sorenson, Carissa Sorenson, Deidra Sorenson; great nephews and nieces, Edward Leonard III, Dylan Sorenson, Madeline and Max Donnelly, Kylie and Wyatt Sorenson, and Hope Sorenson; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Sorenson; her grandparents Soren and Mildred Sorenson, and Norbert and Anna Kueffler.
