Nile served for 21 years in the Air Force being stationed in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Nile is remembered for his sense of humor and for joking around with everyone he met. His favorite pastime was collecting and restoring farm tools, well pulleys, and cow bells. He enjoyed showing them to visitors and swapping stories about them.
Nile is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen; his two daughters: Kathy Gilligan (John) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Joyce Balding of Byron, Georgia; two grandsons, John Jr. (Brittany) and Mike ( Lauren); and one great grandson, Jacob.
