Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28th at First United Methodist Church in Denton conducted by Rev. Dr. Dennis Sheppard and Dr. Jerry Surratt. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 27th from 5:00-8:00 PM at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home.
Jimmy was born on September 11, 1937 in Davidson County to the late Edgar Lee Elliott and Allene Hughes Elliott. He was a proud graduate of Denton High School class of 1955. He enjoyed his high school days where he excelled in basketball and baseball. In 2012 he was inducted into the South Davidson Sports Hall of Fame. He worked at Park In Grill after school and later at Surratt Hosiery Mill, Colony Craft and retired from Thomasville Furniture, Plant W.
He was a NC State fan and enjoyed baseball, basketball, traveling and gardening. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by Bobby Berrier, and brothers Bobby and Kenneth Elliott.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years Melanie Saunders Elliott of the home, beloved brothers James Elliott of Mountain Vista Health Park and Wayne Elliott and wife Fran of Middleburg, FL, Robert Ash, (like a son) of Denton, and numerous loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and classmates.
