She was born May 21, 1922, in Parker City. Her parents were Craig and Glea (Rees) Thornburg. She married Charles E. Bechman on Aug. 1, 1942, in Franklin. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Charles William "Bill" Bechman of New York City and James Alan Bechman of Madison. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maralee Coy.
She was a 1940 graduate of Center Grove High School and Central Beauty College in Indianapolis. She was owner/operator of Fairview Beauty Shop in Franklin for 36 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, where she was past secretary of the Christian Builders Sunday school class. She was past worthy matron and present secretary of Franklin OES 439 and past president of the 6th District Association OES. She was past president of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority of Franklin and Franklin Women's Republican Club.
Services were entrusted to Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin, Indiana.
