Jack Abernathy, 61, 242 Seventh Ave., SW, died at 9:17 p.m. Thursday an an area
hospital following a two-week illness.
Born Aug. 27, 1920 in Catawba County, he was a son of the late James and Maggie
Jones Abernathy. His wife, Ann Abernathy, preceded him in death in 1975. He was
a member of St Paul AME Zion Church.
Survivors include one sister, Bernice Abernathy of Hickory; one brother, Eugene
Abernathy of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the services. Burial will
be in Ridgeview Cemetery.
The family will be at Allen Mitchell Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 o'clock tonight.
