MR. H. D. CANERDAY
Funeral service for H. D. Canerday, 79, of Singer were held at 10 a.m.
Monday, July 26 at First Presbyterian Church in DeRidder under the direction of Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.

Services were also held Tuesday, July 27 at 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Baptist Church in Calvin with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Canerday died Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Calvin and has lived in Singer since 1969. He was a
graduate of Calvin High School and an All-State basketball player of the
Calvin High School state championship team in 1939.

He received his bachelor and master's of education degrees from Northwestern Sate University in Natchitoches.

He was a teacher, coach, principal and supervisor in Natchitoches Parish
before retiring from the Louisiana Public School System. He was a member
of the Beauregard Parish School Board, Rotary Club of DeQuincy, VFW Post
3802 of DeQuincy and various other local clubs and organization. He was
president of Beauregard Parish Farm Bureau, served on the Board of
Directors of the Louisiana Farm Bureau and on the Board of Directors of the
Louisiana Heart O'Dixie Tennessee Walking Horse Association. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member and an elder of the First Presbyterian
Church of DeRidder.

He is survived by his wife, Carol C. Canerday of Singer; a son, Ronald D. Canerday of Calvin; daughter, Charlotte Page of Calvin; step-sons James K. "Jamie" White of DeRidder, Bill White of Singer, Robert A. "Bobby" White of Vidor, Texas and Michael T. "Mike" White of Haughton; one brother, J. D. Canerday of Calvin; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
