Rosby Nelson French
Rosby Nelson French, 81, formerly of Saco and Wyalusing, PA passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 19, at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA where he was a resident. Rosby was born in Standing Stone, PA on Nov. 8, 1936, the son of Guy David and Alice Irene Stevens French.
He attended the Fisher School in Standing Stone and was a graduate of Towanda High School with the class of 1955.
In early years, Rosby was employed by several area farms.
On June 22, 1958, Rosby married the former Marjorie M. "Margie" Johnson.
He was employed by Benson Oldsmobile-Buick in East Towanda for over 39 years, Yoder Tire in North Towanda for 10 years and by Williams Oil Company in North Towanda for several years.
Rosby enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching softball and playing cards.
Rosby will be remembered as a fun and loving person who enjoyed discussing current events and as a hard worker who enjoyed assisting family and neighbors.
Rosby wanted for people to think for themselves to better themselves.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Maxine French of Ebony, VA; and sister, Violet Koser of Macedonia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosby was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie M. "Margie" Johnson French on March 17, 2015; father, Guy David French on July 22, 1979; mother, Alice Irene Stevens French on December 24, 1999; brothers, David Ernest French on Oct. 1, 1990, Francis Clifton French on Sept. 27, 1991, Robert Duane French on Oct. 20, 1988, James Bruce French on Aug. 31, 2006; sisters, Minnie Amelia "Peggy" Zeidler on June 28, 1961, Edna Louise Baton on May 26, 2005, Patricia Ann Rogers on Dec. 25, 2008, Ada French Barnum on Feb. 21, 2015; nieces, Nancy Rogers on April 22, 2007, Barbara Pardoe Huynh on Sept. 30, 2012, Jacqueline Pardoe Clark on Dec. 17, 2014; nephews, Michael Pardoe on Aug. 23, 1994, Andrew Pardoe on Feb. 9, 2017, Lincoln Edward-Hugh Brookens on March 7, 2009 and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, PA with Rev. Robert W. Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Stevens Cemetery, Standing Stone, PA in care of James Pardoe, 2035 River Road, Wysox, PA 18854 in memory of Rosby Nelson French.
