Oscar Peterson, 49, a Neosho County highway employee, died at the Mercy Hospital in Parsons yesterday afternoon. He suffered a stroke last Thursday and his condition had been critical since that time. He was born at Delavan, August 10 1907, the son of Celja and Lars Peterson. At the age of fivee he moved to Allen County with his family where he lived until he was 12, moving from there to Stark where he lived for several years. He was married to Helen Irene Jenkins, of Chanute, May 14 1943, They had resided in the Erie community since their marriage. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Marjorie and sons, Raymond and Glen, all of the home; and sister Mrs Ethel Bloom, of Chanute.
The funeral service will be Thursday 2 p.m. in the Erie Christian Church. The Rev. Edgar Rains, of Chanute, assisted by the Rev. A. W. Swanson, pastor of the Erie Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Swedish Cemetery, west of Savonburg. The Pierce Funeral home, Erie, is in charge.
