Born at Riley, KS and passed away at Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland. He was a longtime resident of the area. The son of Paul and Bertha (Sylvester) Hartner. He attended rural schools. Married Alta Jeanette Simmons on Dec 7, 1938 at Keats. She preceeded him in death on Oct 23, 2004. He was a stockman/farmer and worked the family farm west of Westmoreland for over 40 years. Prior to moving to Westmoreland, he and his wife farmed in the Riley area which is now a part of the Fort Riley Reservation. He was an active member in the United Methodist Church in Westmoreland and Wamego. He retired to Wamego 1982. Survived by 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grand-children. He was preceeded in death by a brother, Donald Hartner, grand daughter Terri Lynn Batten, and a great grandson , Dwayne Overcamp. Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Wamego City Cemetary with Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego in charge of arrangements.
