West Lebanon, NH - Arlene B. Fay, 87, passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, December 16, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hanover, NH on June 10, 1926 to the late Howard E. & Bessie M. (Kendall) Gilson Sr. Arlene grew up on South Main Street in West Lebanon, an area of West Lebanon known as Butmanville to the old timers, and attended schools there. In 1946 she married Percy L. Fay. She worked for the Hotel Coolidge in White River Junction, VT and Dartmouth College for a number of years. Dartmouth College is where she met her best friend, Lucile Drew and they together went on some great adventures. Her favorite was going to Hawaii. She also had a second best friend Flo Roberts, but they were more like sisters. Arlene enjoyed the twenty plus years that she camped at Mascoma Lake with her husband and they also wintered in Gulfport, FL for several years. She was a member of the West Lebanon Congregational Church and the VFW Auxiliary of White River Junction, VT.
She is survived by her son Lawrence & Nancy Fay of Bradford, VT, her daughter Susan Mays & Jack of Lebanon, NH, four grandchildren, Sandra Wurtz & John, Laurie Fay, John D. Mays and Heidi S. Mays, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins . She was predeceased by her husband Percy L. Fay, a brother Howard E. Gilson Jr. and a sister Rae Hazelton.
Family and friends are invited to Arlene’s committal service at the West Lebanon Cemetery on August 16th at 1 pm. The Reverend Greg Marshall will officiate.
