Mrs. Laura “Ozell” Robbins, 100 of Smyrna, formerly of Mableton, Georgia died August 16, 2018.
Ozell is preceded in death by her husband, Alton Robbins, her parents, Elder Jim and Suzie Phillips, and her five brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her four daughters, Bernice Adams (Duluth, GA), Martha (Frank) Browning (Dallas, GA) Rita (Ron) Coppock (Roswell, GA), Shelia (Bill) Swain (Mableton, GA) and son Steve (Andrea) Robbins (Flowery Branch, GA), seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
Ozell, “Mother,” “Granny” was like no other. A force to be reckoned with. She loved her faith, and she lived her faith. She was a Godly woman that was loved deeply, is already missed, and will forever be cherished. She was a loving Granny to many, but was also an amazing wife, mom, daughter, sibling, friend, and more. Known for her love and acceptance of all. And a baker of biscuits like no other.

To know Ozell is to truly love Ozell. Words can’t adequately describe the powerhouse of a woman that she was; she had to be experienced. And, those who have had the blessing of experiencing her were filled with love and laughter.

What is even more amazing about her is that she had already raised two daughters and had three grandchildren when she married Alton Robbins at age 40 and took on the responsibility of raising three more children ages 10, 7, 2. She loved so well!

As an avid sports fan, when the Braves or UGA football were on the tv, then you could find her on the other side of that tv. You never left her house hungry. Homemade apple pies, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, red velvet cake and so many more dishes were all cooked with love, and most originated out of the garden she cultivated with her loving husband, Alton (or “Papa” to many). She was a woman that even her in laws couldn’t get enough of. In her prime, she had more energy that humanly possible. And in her later years, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who could keep up with the 94-year-old speeding past you in her walker at Kroger on a Wednesday. In her last days, she didn’t always remember who we were, but she knew we loved her and we knew she loved us.

She was loving, selfless, fun, hardworking, giving, and usually always right (especially if you asked her). She loved cooking, providing for others, gardening, canning, holding babies. Most of all she loved the Lord.

May she Rest In Peace and may her memory live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00-7:00 PM as well as 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Oneonta, AL.
