He was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Trevorton, to the late Florence (Sherman) and Donato "Daniel" Alexander. Joe was the youngest and last surviving of nine children.
Joe was a 1948 graduate of Trevorton High School where he played baseball and boxed for the Red Devils.
On May 7, 1955, he married Joanne E. Kopenhaver at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Trevorton. Joe and Joanne celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage before Joanne's passing in May 1994.
Joe was a retired machinist for AMP Incorporated, Selinsgrove. He also worked for the Shamokin Packing Company and Shamokin Shoe Corporation before joining AMP.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, and the Shamokin Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed fishing, traveling, volunteering for his church, and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his son, Joseph and daughter-in-law, Catherine, of Coal Township; a son-in-law, Steven Kent, of Coal Township; a grandson, Robert Stone and his wife, Jill; a granddaughter, Danielle (Stone) Butler and her husband, Luke; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Alexander, all of Coal Township; and four great-grandchildren, Piper and Benson Stone and Bryce and Blakely Butler.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Kent, in January. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Reynolds, Zachary, Marvin, Earl, Victor and Robert; and two sisters, Irene Bridi and Margaret "Peg" Worhacz.
