Chairman of the board of directors of the St. Louis Union Trust Company for 15 years. Grover's first job was with August Gehner & Co. at a salary of $25 a month. Later, he joined the National Lead Company, where he earned $45 a month. He left the lead company to enter Washington University, where he obtained a law degree in 1896. He practiced law in St. Louis from 1896 to 1910. In 1910 he joined the bond department of the old Mississippi Valley Trust Company and in 1912 was named vice president of the Mortgage Trust Company. Five years later, he became vice president of St. Louis Union Trust Company. He was named president in 1931 and served in that capacity until he was elected board chairman in 1946. He had been a member of the board since 1923.

Grover was also a director of Wagner Electric Corporation, the First National Bank in St. Louis and St. Joseph Lead Company.
