Mary R. Palmer, 95, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away in her daughter’s home after a brief illness. Mary was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 8, 1922 to the late William and Angela (McGinn) Wade. On December 26, 1949, she married the love of her life, Clarence B. Palmer, he preceded her in death on July 9, 1981. They resided in Mishawaka, Indiana for over forty years, and were members of St. Bavo Catholic Church. Mary graduated from St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing, Michigan. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Joseph Hospital and was instrumental in the establishment of the first Coronary Care Unit at the hospital. She retired from the South Bend Clinic, having worked there for over 20 years. Mary retired to Greenville, South Carolina.

Mary is survived by her loving children; Sally Phillips (Jim Ford) of Texas, Mary Katherine (Harry) Brown of Illinois, Yvonne ‘Bonnie’ Nisley of South Carolina, and William (Yvette) Palmer of Arizona. She was the proud grandmother of Amelia (Michael) Smith, Jennifer Palmer, Jesicca (Preston) Peters, Wade Nisley, and great-grandmother of Michaela, Rydan and Maleia Smith, and Isabella Peters. Mary is also survived by her sister, Sally (James) Kennelley of Florida. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Father Anthony Wade and Donald Wade, along with son-in-law, Donald Nisley.

Friends will be received from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 16th in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral chapel, with Fr. John Eze. She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
