George McGraw

On Friday, May 21st 2010, our most loved George McGraw left this world in the arms of angels after a long extended illness at his home on Burgess Street in Beckley following battle with cancer. He was 72 years of age.

Born George Wilson McGraw at Stover on February 12, 1938, he was one of four children born to the late James Oley and Chessie Hunter McGraw. His brothers, Dane and Carl preceded him in death.

George was the former owner of George's Used Cars and Affordable Used Cars. He had owned several other bussinesses in Raleigh County.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Kathey Boyce McGraw, he was the dear father of four sons, Michael of Apopka, FL, Jonathan and Dane McGraw of London, KY, and William, who preceded him in death, Stepdaughter, Charlotte Brown, Rebecca Acord and Stepson, Curtis Goff, all of Beckley, survive him four grandchildren and six step grandchildren; as well as a sister Rosila Lowe of Sarasota, FL, and brother James E. McGraw of Stover, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 24th, at 2 p.m. at Melton Mortuary at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Davey Duncan officiating. In keeping with his wishes George will be cremated following his services. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the services hour.

A special thanks goes out to George's caretaker, Sandy Keene of Mabscott, Bobby "Cricket" Cook of MacArthur, Ronnie Hodge and Iva Windon who have been of so much help during these difficult days, as well as Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and compassion.
