October 3, 1922 (Age 56 years) Paragould Hospital, Paragould, Greene Co, Arkansas, USA. Residence: Cardwell, Dunklin Co, Missouri, USA. Note: JOHN COKLEY DIES OF FOOD POISON. JOHN COKLEY, of this city, died of Ptomaine Poisoning at the Paragould Sanitarium Tuesday morning at nine o'clock. He and two others ate some sandwiches Saturday evening and soon were taken ill, being taken with a chill. Mr. Cokley was taken to the Sanitarium at Paragould on the 5:19 Moose Sunday. His two associates recovered from the effects of the poison. Deceased was 52 years of age, and is survived by a wife, two sons and one daughter, who reside Illinois. Also three nephews, Ty, Ed and Leon Cokley, all of whom reside near Cardwell. Uncle John as he was formerly called, was well liked by everyone. He was employed as night watchman at The Cardwell Gin. The remains were shipped to Cardwell Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Purcell Cemetery, renamed Cardwell.
