Funeral service for Wanda Rae Carter will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Byron G. Elmore, Senior Pastor of Lawton Calvary Assembly of God officiating.

Burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery, Warren, Oklahoma under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Wanda Rae Carter, 92, Lawton, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 in Lawton. Wanda was born on March 10, 1926 in Kiowa County near Warren, Oklahoma to William and Augusta (Hendricks) Inklebarger. She grew up in Warren and went to schools in the Warren area. Following high school Wanda married Henry Kenneth Carter on May 6, 1944 in Altus. They were married for 55 years before Henry passed away on March 24, 2000. Henry and Wanda lived in Altus for ten years while Henry worked for Conoco Oil Company and later for civil service at Altus Air Force Base. He was transferred to Will Rogers World Airport and later to Lawton/Fort Sill where the couple would settle. While in Lawton, Wanda worked as a medical office clerk for Dr. Cagle, Dr. Legako and Dr. Meek until she retired.

Wanda loved gospel singing and would go anytime she got the chance especially to Meramec Caverns in Missouri and to Seminole, Oklahoma. She enjoyed reading, especially Amish books and visiting Amish communities where they would shop. Wanda really enjoyed shopping. She was very devoted to her church when her health would allow and she was a loving wife and mother. She also enjoyed her dog Buffy.

Wanda is survived by her son, Mikel Carter of Lawton, grandson, Mikel “Cody” Carter of Oklahoma City, step granddaughter, Sara Allen of Clinton and several other cousins.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her siblings.
