Howard Claude Hare, 90, formerly of Bonne Terre, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, TX.

Howard was born on September 16, 1916 in Dilon, MO to Claude Hare and Nellie Spicer Hare. He worked with the US Navy during World War II as a civilian employee in Hawaii. He owned and operated Hare's Grocery Store in Bonne Terre, MO before his retirement in 1977. After retiring he became a winter visitor to the Harlingen, TX area and became a permanent resident in 1998. Howard was a past member and past master of Samaritan Lodge # 424 Bonne Terre. Howard was also a member of the Harlingen Masonic Lodge #1132, Worthy Patron of the Harlingen O.E.S. Chapter #641, member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Harlingen, and member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre, MO. Howard earned the Grand Cross of Color for the International Order of the Rainbows for Girls by serving on the board of the O.E.S. in Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hare of Harlingen, TX; daughters, Delia Keymal and her husband, Bob of Big Bear City, CA and Dana Jaeger and her husband, Jonathan of Leslie, AR; 39 grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Louise (Marshall) Hare, second wife Helen (Welch) Hare, three daughters, Louise Sparks, Nellie Dodson and Patricia Steifel.
